Weather Operations Update – January 26, 2026
Due to weather conditions, PET Imaging locations will operate as follows:
Tulsa will be closed today (January 26, 2026) due to weather conditions.
The Woodlands and Sugar Land plan to open at 12:00 PM CST today.
We will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates if hours change. Please stay safe.
Preparation instructions vary based on the type of PET imaging you’re scheduled for. Please review the section below that matches your exam.
If you’re unsure which scan you’re having, contact our office prior to your appointment.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment to complete any paperwork.
If you are more than 20 minutes late, your scan will be rescheduled.
PET/CT scans typically take about 90 minutes.
Wear warm, comfortable clothing with no metal.
You will be asked to remove all metal objects, including snaps, zippers, buckles, and jewelry prior to your scan.
The meal you eat before your scan should be low in carbohydrates.
Drink at least six glasses of water during the 24 hours prior to your appointment.
Stop all liquids other than plain water six hours before your scan.
Do not eat or drink anything except water during the six hours before your appointment.
Please do not chew gum, suck on mints, lozenges, cough drops, or drink coffee.
If you use tobacco, please do not smoke or use tobacco products for at least 12 hours prior to your scan.
Do not perform any strenuous activity (including weight lifting, aerobics, running, or sports) for 24 hours prior to your scan.
Most medications may be taken as prescribed unless you have diabetes.
If you have diabetes, please call our office for specific instructions.
If you take diuretics (water pills), please contact your doctor to determine if it is safe to discontinue them on the day of your exam.

You may wish to bring a book or music; televisions are available in the room.
If you are claustrophobic, please contact the ordering physician prior to your scan to request medication.
Do not take the medication until instructed by the technologist.
If medication is required, you will need someone to drive you home.
We do not provide or administer oxygen.
If you are on oxygen, please bring enough to last for the procedure plus drive time to and from our center.
Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment.
Wear comfortable clothing with no metal (avoid zippers, snaps, buttons, or jewelry).
Fasting is not necessary — you may maintain your normal diet.
Hydrate well before and after your scan.

If you are claustrophobic, please obtain the proper medication from your physician and bring it to your appointment.
Do not take the medication until the technologist instructs you.
If you require medication for claustrophobia, you will need someone to drive you home.
We do not provide or administer oxygen.
If you are on oxygen, please bring enough to last for the procedure plus drive time to and from our center.
Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment in comfortable clothing.
Do not wear jewelry. You may be asked to remove items containing metal, such as eyeglasses.
Be prepared with a list of all medications you are currently taking.
Please have your medical history available.

Wear comfortable clothing with no metal (avoid zippers, snaps, buttons, or jewelry).
We recommend having a light meal a couple of hours before your scheduled appointment.
A common side effect of the injection is the potential for mild nausea. Some patients experience this, and some do not, but having something in your stomach may help reduce this effect.
If you are on Sandostatin therapy, this scan must be completed within 48 hours of your next scheduled injection.
